Foster Parents

 

Information for Foster Parents

Our services are free of charge and open to the Foster Care Community in Oregon which may include:
 

DHS State Certified Foster Parents, Relative Care Givers, Pre-Adoptive and Adoptive placement homes through DHS, and some children who have a DHS-Child Welfare open case who remain at home under a safety plan. 

We would like to assist you in providing some basic items for the children in your care.  We can help with clothing, shoes, coats, underwear, socks, new car seats, strollers, NEW toys for Birthdays, some baby furniture and baby gear.  Other items will be available when donated.

CLIENT REGISTRATION

You will be asked to register as a client the first time you shop at the Foster Closet.   You can register at the store when you come to shop.  Please bring your Foster Parent ID Number and picture ID when you come to the store.


SHOPPING


DHS Foster/Adoptive Parents and/or Caseworkers can bring children to shop at our store located at:

    1635 SE Tualatin Valley Hwy.
     Hillsboro, OR  97123. 

The Store is open:  Thursdays 10am – 4pm  and the

                               1st & 3rd Saturday of each month
                                

You will be asked to register with us if you have not already done so.  Please see Registration requirements above for information.

Limits:  (1) Bag per child per month.  Certain limits apply to New Clothing Items, shoes, coats, and other items that are dependent on current donations on hand.  Limits are posted at the store and are subject to change.

If you have an urgent request due to a new placement, emergency bags may be available from DHS.  Please contact the placement worker or the child’s caseworker regarding availability.

The Foster Closet may have some Emergency Bags at the store.  Feel free to stop by during regular business hours and see if we have one in the size you need. 

   **Note:  Privacy of Foster Parent Registration information is of utmost importance to the Foster Closet.  Use of personal information obtained will be used by the Foster Closet to contact Foster Parents about requests, new items available, and news pertaining to the Foster Care Community.  Periodic audits of registered users of the Foster Closet will be conducted to verify eligibility.  Those audits will be conducted in conjunction with DHS personal whom are also obligated to keep information confidential.

     NOTE:  We do not fill emailed orders.
