Our services are free of charge and open to the Foster Care Community in Oregon which may include:
 

DHS State Certified Foster Parents, Relative Care Givers, Pre-Adoptive and Adoptive placement homes through DHS, and some children who have a DHS-Child Welfare open case who remain at home under a safety plan. 

We would like to assist you in providing some basic items for the children in your care.  We can help with clothing, shoes, coats, underwear, socks, car seats, strollers, toys, some baby furniture and baby gear.  Other items will be available when donated.


CLIENT REGISTRATION

You will be asked to REGISTER as a client the first time you order or shop at the Foster Closet.   Please print out the registration form from the link (Register) above, fill out the information, sign & date.  Bring this form and your Foster Parent Provider ID Number and a picture ID with you when you come to the store.  You will only need to do this the first time you use the Foster Closet.

SHOPPING


DHS Foster/Adoptive Parents and/or Caseworkers can bring children to shop beginning October 11th, 2011 to our store located at:

    1635 SE Tualatin Valley Hwy.Unit #2&3
     Hillsboro, OR  97123. 

The Store is open:  Tuesdays 4pm – 8pm; 
                                Thursdays 10am – 4pm

                                and the 1st Saturday of each month
                                beginning November 5th, 2011

**Please check our Holiday Closure list on the Calendar to ensure that we are open.

You will be asked to register with us if you have not already done so.  Please see Registration requirements above for information.

Limits:  (1) Bag per child per shopping visit.  Children can shop up to 3 times per month if necessary as stock changes continuously and we may not have all the items they need when you come in.



PLACING ORDERS

If it is more convenient, you may place an order with us by

When calling please provide the following: 
Your name,
phone number, child's first name, age, sex, size (clothes & shoe sizes), and items they need.

PICKING UP YOUR PHONED-IN/EMAILED ORDER

We process orders phoned in or emailed on the next regular day the store is open.  You will be called when the order is ready for pick-up.

Your order will be held for one week.  You will receive one reminder call before the week is up.  If you have not picked up your order within the allotted time, the clothing will be put back into stock.  

If you have an urgent request due to a new placement, there are emergency bags available from DHS.  Please request a bag from the placement worker or the child’s caseworker.

The Foster Closet may have some Emergency Bags at the store.  Feel free to stop by during regular business hours and see if we have one in the size you need. 

   **Note:  Privacy of Foster Parent Registration information is of utmost importance to the Foster Closet.  Use of personal information obtained will be used by the Foster Closet to contact Foster Parents about requests, new items available, and news pertaining to the Foster Care Community.  Periodic audits of registered users of the Foster Closet will be conducted to verify eligibility.  Those audits will be conducted in conjunction with DHS personal whom are also obligated to keep information confidential.
