How Can You Help?

You don’t have to be a Foster Parent to help a Foster Child.

The Foster Closet relies on the generosity of the community to help these children.   Without Community support—the Foster Closet couldn’t exist.

Here’s how you can help:

Donate gently used or new clothing.

Please read the Foster Closet Donation Guidelines to ensure the items you wish to donate are listed.  Feel free to give us a call if you have items to donate that are not listed.

Donate baby furniture, toys, baby gear, strollers, car seats, etc.
NOTE:  We DO NOT take CRIBS due to liability issues and cannot accept Car Seats and Booster Seats with expired dates.    Please check the dates listed on the underside of Car/Booster seats before donating.

Donate diapers and formula.

Help with our Emergency Bag Program

Currently children coming into foster care typically transport their clothing in trash bags.  In our attempt to help raise the children’s self-esteem, we want them to get clothing from us in a nice bag that they can keep as their own to use.

We are trying to stock clothing bags to be used for emergency placement of children coming into care with little or nothing.  These bags hold a 2-3 day supply of clothing, a toy, a blanket, etc – depending on age.

We usually stock 24-26 bags to accommodate boys/girls in sizes birth to teen – for one season.  We will be pre-filling the bags with appropriate clothing per size & keep one of each on hand as needed.  We restock as the emergency bags are distributed.

What We Need

**Volunteers to sew the bags   **Donated Fabric & Supplies   ***Groups to help one-time or as an on-going project.

Fabric Bag Specifications

**We use an easy pattern ***Clothing bags are uniform to enable stacking

***Fabric - durable & machine washable.  ***Fabric should be appropriate for Children.
